How Chiropractic may help

Many animals suffer from spine, neck, pelvic and musculoskeletal problems at some time during their life. They may have suffered an accident or fall. Like people, they may benefit from Chiropractic care.

You can improve the comfort and mobility of your animal, whatever their age. Improvements in movement and relief from pain and discomfort may help your animal's general soundness, wellbeing and performance. Chiropractic care is suitable whatever activities you do with your animal.

As with people, Chiropractic will help to align and balance the animal's musculoskeletal system, optimizing the animal's flexibility and functioning.

When your animal may benefit from a treatment

You will probably have an acute sense of when something is not quite right with your animal. Conditions that may benefit from Chiropractic attention are lameness, reluctance to exercise, uneven gait, changes in performance or behaviour and specific or general signs of discomfort. All McTimoney Chiropractic animal practitioners are trained to recognise when an animal needs to be referred to a vet. Treatments include an evaluation of what the issues may be. Animal owners often notice improvements in general temperament and wellbeing of their animals once the physical problem has been resolved. If you would like to discuss the situation with one of the Chiropractors, please contact them.

About the treatments

Making friends

Kay will work closely with you to put your animal at ease, especially on first appointments. After learning from you what the problem is, she will observe the animal's movement, discomfort and points of pain or sensitivity.

The treatment

Kay will then directly feel the animal's spine, neck, pelvis and other relevant areas to gain a more detailed picture. She will gently treat the animal and observe the effects. After the treatment, she may make suggestions of how you can maintain improvements, for example, by massaging stiff muscles.
