Julia Phombeah Day

Julia is a longstanding holistic therapist at Hendon Natural Health Centre. Her therapies are Reflexology, Aromatherapy Massage and, most recently, Ayurvedic Kansa Vatki Foot Massage. She sometimes incorporates all three in her treatments. Her interest in Reflexology originates from her research into her own painful foot problems as a teenager. This culminated in her qualifying as a Reflexologist in 1995.

Since then she has gone on to train in Aromatherapy Massage and she has been involved in writing articles on Aromatherapy and Pregnancy.

Julia often works in conjunction with the Chiropractors, helping to support their treatment programmes.

Reflexology works on the principle that there are reflexes on the feet that correspond to all parts of body. By gently stimulating these points, energy pathways are freed, encouraging the body’s own healing powers. It is beneficial for a wide range of conditions including hormonal imbalances, pain relief and anxiety.

This is a deeply relaxing foot and lower leg massage treatment using a special small bowl made from a metal alloy (Kansa) consisting of copper, zinc and tin.  In Ayurveda this is known as the 'healing metal'.  Copper is thought to help in reducing pain and inflammation, zinc in aiding the digestive and immune systems and tin in helping digestion, headaches and insomnia.  In the Ayurvedic tradition, foot massage is said to balance the body's doshas (constitutions) and free the energy flow throughout the body.

During your treatment attention will be given to massaging the special 7 marma points (Ayurvedic pressure points) on each lower limb.  It is thought that working these points may help relieve certain conditions around the body as well as nourishing the skin and improving blood and lymph circulation.  It relaxes the muscles in the legs and feet and can soothe an agitated mind therefore helping to alleviate stress and anxiety.

This treatment is very enjoyable on it's own and is also ideal for combining with other treatments such as reflexology or facial massage etc.

Clients say ......

My first session with Julia was in February 1997 when I saw the advertisement for reflexology in the window of a beauty salon. I decided to give myself a treat and this was the start of regular sessions with Julia since then. I stayed with Julia even when she moved to different premises. Julia has a calm and gentle personality and works in a very professional manner. Over the years, I have found Reflexology sessions invaluable. Julia recommends at times that I combine those with other massages and we are currently combining Reflexology with a back massage.

My monthly Reflexology sessions have enabled me to relax at a much deeper level than I normally achieve through other massages or exercise. Over the years, I have noticed that I know when the next session is due by my body clock rather than my diary.  M C
